Ancillary Task 1: Analysis of news intro

Sound: Non diegetic, soothing, relaxing, appealing, inoffensive, instrumental without lyrics, the simplicity of it attracts the viewer. Has a slight 'blip', which is reminiscent of the gongs of the clock.

Logo: Animated their logo to move throughoout the entire sequence, to impress upon the viewer the brand which is BBC wales.

Text: They list the cities within wales in order to appeal to those individuals as they will be able to relate.

Editing techniques: Fast paced sorry, intersecting, behind the logo

Type of shots: ls at a distance to get as much information as possible

Effects: All green and blues to mirror the welshflag and to bring uniformity to all of the images.

Stills/moving images: a range of stills and moving images hacve been used, highlighting areas of wales. The images used will appeal to those living around wales as they will recognise the landmarks.

Length of the clip: 20 seconds. Short, consice, to remind you of the brand you're watching.

In realtion to John Hartley's 7 categories of audience the producers are trying to appeal to the welsh sense of self, arrange of genders, and ages although this is not appealing to younger children.

Placed above are logos which i have looked at and will be looking to incorporate when producing a logo for my final news broadcast. As you can see, they all utilise a limited colour pallet in order to target their audience. Simple and basic font has been used in order to again portray the simplicity of a news broadcast. Consequently, the BBC news have used basic graphics within the backdrops of their iamges.
