Music and Sound

This is my music and sound page where i explain why i chose the music i did within my TV news broadcast and what factors played a part in my final decision. I will also look at other jingles and why i chose not to use them in my final product. Finally, i will analyse an existing news jingle as i will be attempting to develop existing codes and conventions so this will be imperative.

BBC NEWS JINGLE ANALYSIS:

This is my powerpoint presentation of the BBC news which has been created on slideshare.

This is another sound track that i could potentially use; however i have intentionally chosen not to as i feel it does not allow me to relate and appeal to my target audience. The tempo and beat of the jingle is too fast and does not allow the audience to process everything that will be said within the broadcast. This will not benefit me as i will be discussing a serious and sensitive topic for my hard news story that will require the attention of the audience and this jingle does not allow me to do that as there is too much going on with the instruments. This jingle would be best suited for a news show that wasn't politically biased or for a news broadcast based in the morning as it possess quite a jolly and happy sound to it. Hence why i will not be utilising this jingle within my final product.

The soundtrack placed above is what i will use throughout my news broadcast as my jingle. The reason i have selected to use this jingle is because it possesses a sense of seriousness which i will be abel to use to coincide with the hard news that i will be presenting as it is a very sensitive topic that will effect the audience. Furthermore, this jingle will be able to capture and keep the audiences attention as it is loud and clear. The different instruments used in this jingle allow for my news to be presented effectively as it fades in at the same time that our anchor introduces the news. This is an instrumental and does not consist of any voices or more importantly no particular accents are used. it is important that we have not included any accents or voices as it will then only appeal to a few minority and will the exclude the majority of the audience who will view my audience as earlier research displays that my target audience will consist of a variety of ethnicities. This jingle is good for my news broadcast as holds a serious and powerful tempo throughout which again relates to the time of evening news which is when i will be presenting my broadcast. I will ensure that the jingle fades in and fades out to ensure a smooth transition of the broadcast.
